With the recent release of Glory to the Lord, My Shepherd Edward Bach has additionally embarked on a demanding performance schedule over the next couple of years. Performances in the fall of 2011 take Bach to Vancouver Canada for performances with pianist Barrie Barrington and then to Scotland where he will perform with organ virtuoso Johnny Bradburn. Following an exuberant response at Scotland’s Dornoch Cathedral in August 2010, the Bach and Bradburn duo are now scheduling several concerts in Scotland that will feature the literature of the Baroque masters who composed so brilliantly for the trumpet and organ. These concerts will also feature selections from Bach’s recordings as well as some jazz standards like Summertime.
The Spring of 2011 will be highlighted by a series of 15-20 solo concerts with piano accompanist extraordinaire Nancy Davis. These performances, on occasion, will also include a Tribute to Louis Armstrong featuring the jazz great’s original instrumentation of The Hot Five and Hot Seven. Recent concerts in Greensboro (May, 2010) and Darlington, South Carolina (October, 2010) reminded Bach of how much people still love the music of the great jazz legend, Louis Armstrong. With the expertise and musical prowess of UNCG colleague Chad Eby (sax) and a wonderful ensemble of gifted students and colleagues A Tribute to Louis Armstrong has quickly become a concert not to miss. A concert featuring such a variety of classical playing in the first half followed by jazz in the second half is a rare feat in the trumpet world offering the audience an incredibly diverse program. Keep your eyes open for the upcoming recital dates in the New Year.
Following this years final solo recital - First Lutheran Church in Greensboro (November 13, 2010) - Bach will be performing with The Market Street Brass as the group embarks on its’ busiest Christmas season yet. These concerts feature Christmas music that is bound to lift all spirits. Listings of concert venues and times will be listed over the next week.
